The US torpedoed Brazilian merchant ships, blamed the Germans to make Brazil, who had a fascist dictator who sympathized with Nazi Germany, join the Axis.

Brazil allied with the Axis. Got an oil refinery and a steel CSN (SID) in return.

As a result most of Brazil's airport closes most of the time, mainly in witer. What has this to do with the US and WWII?

The US military engineers advised Brasil on where construct airstrips. They need to be covered with clouds most of the time to avod detection.

Those airstrips became airports. Now with electronic landing devices is not a problem but it was a pain in the ass until a few years back.

The US military were in Brazil because the Germans were supposed to ammas force sin Dakar and launch a invasion of the western hemisphere -that was 10 years before I was born else I would be laughing about even before I was born!!- and take Brazil march towards Mexico and INvade the US!!!

Boy! the older generations stupidity had no limits!!!

Rummy proposed an air only assault on Iran with nuclear weapons. If the US is hit by a 9/11 or worse attack again. Shoot first and ask questions later.

I don't know about funding Hitler. But trading with Nazi Germany certainly. Including IBM.

Shades Re: "fund Hitler" That is just lefty internet mythology. Germany, from the very beginning of the war was under a very effective naval blockade and there really was no "trade" with the outside world. What good would "funding" do and how would you make the transfer? By 1942 the only way would have been by submarine and there is no evidence that subs were used for this in any material way. After the US entered the war there was a single voyage of a sub from Germany to Japan and back, just one.

The Trading with the Enemy Act was a 1919 law and FDR used it in 1933 as the authority to close every bank in the US for a "bank holiday" audit. This action had nothing to do with Hitler or enemies. Later during the war he used it for every purpose, and mainly against political enemies on any excuse, as he hoped it would be an embarassment.

Germany was a major trading partner before the war and there were American owned assets in Germany, including manufacturing capacity like Ford's German operation. Ford had no control of those assets during the war, despite the internet mythology.

American banks loaned vast sums to Germany in the 1920's to forestall a Bolshevik revolution and to provide funds for the French reparations. Of course Germany defaulted on these loans and the banks tried every method to recover the assets, even after the war. Some of them haven't been resolved even yet.

These lefties should save their energy and instead focus on what the elites are doing NOW, rather than insult history by some of their claims.
