It was not an attack IN Germany.

Let me help JJ.
Germany has suffered attacks by Muslim militant extremists in Germany.

The La Belle nightclub bombing at the end of Hauptstr in Berlin comes to mind. (I've been in that club and the KBS next door.) We bombed Libya after that one.
There were certainly Muslim ties to the Red Army Faction (RAF) in Germany and the Red Brigades in Italy. I read one estimate that they were responsible for 10,000 attacks in Western Europe.
And there were other attacks generated from the extensive Turkish and other Muslim Gastarbeiter factions residing in the former Berlin enclave and West Germany.

It's very seldom that I find myself defending a NYT reporter. :>)

I'm encouraged. Even one instance is a clear indicator that you've not yet gone 'round the bend.
