An extraordinary flag hoisting ceremony was held here at the border marking the eve of Independence Day of Pakistan.

Brigadier Sakhi Jan’s hoisting the national flag synchronized with a thundering slogan ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ voiced by thousands of people attending the ceremony that echoed through far and wide the Wagah border. Children had painted their faces alike Pakistani flag or pasted Pak-flag stickers on their cheeks.

Ranger officials, later on, presented sweets, gifts and bouquet to the Indian security forces, who in turn felicitated their Pakistani counterparts celebrating this august occasion.

The officials from both the countries on this occasion stressed on the continuance of dialogue process underway for tuning up the bilateral relations with passage of time.

A high-level North Korean delegation on Sunday visited a South Korean war cemetery, television broadcasts showed, in a move of reconciliation between the two countries, which are technically still at war.
