China says plans interest rate derivatives
Mon Aug 15, 2005 4:13 AM ET

BEIJING, Aug 15 (Reuters) - China will introduce interest rate derivatives as soon as possible, the central bank said on Monday, the latest sign of financial reform in the wake of last month's currency revaluation.

The People's Bank of China also said it would tighten credit to property developers and warned of potential risks in loans to the property sector.

The central bank said it expected inflation in residential property prices would slow a bit in 2005 and 2006, and that it would target speculation in high-end property.
