Exactly, but actions of the company cause that to happen. That shareholders might vote for a stock (or option) program is irrelevant.

Value ... real money ... is transferred directly from shareholders to employees, but it's equivalent to a transfer of $X from shareholders to the company ... and then that same $X from the company to employees.
