re:So I am not sure why you think calling me a student is demeaning.

Because you're intolerance for the realities of the world show your inexperience with anything beyond your opinion.

Excuse me but that says little of real consequence.....its just a string of words you put together.

And the truth is that several of us on this thread have been mostly right about Iraq for the past three years but have been derided unmercifully by the Bushies during that time. They too accused us of the very same disconnection from reality that you accuse me. Many of them are gone now replaced by new Bushies like you. The truth is that its the Bushies who have been disconnected from reality.....partly out of ignorance and partly from pure pigheadedness. And they are putting this nation in grave danger.

re:I don't have a plan.

Of course you don't - you're too busy name calling and pissing on the existing plans.

Yes, dude........and you are full of you know what. You wouldn't be posting so diligently to me if all I did was name call.

re:I was opposed to invading Iraq from day one. I just want to get our guys to stop fighting this damaging war and get them returned home to the safety of this country.

As is you're right and I respect that - but we went, we're there and we need to finish the job as best we can.

And what you don't understand........the job won't be finished for a long, long time....decades possibly......and I can not stand by and watch my fellow countrymen die for another country's cause so that the elite of this country can get rich off of it.

The mess in Iraq did not happen overnite.....it started in the 1920s when France and the UK partitioned the ME into fiefdoms that did not always make sense from an ethnic point of view. For decades now, Iraq has been in turmoil....tortured and raped first by the Brits and then by Saddam and the Ba'athists. It will take Iraqis decades and a lot of turmoil to recover from such abuse.

Leaving now will doom that country and it's people to certain failure.<?I>

Leaving now will allow the country to become what it must. For at least the next decade, there will never be a good time.....Iraq has to go through what Yugoslavia went through during the 1990s. However, it will be worse for Iraq because of the oil.

We are responsible whether you like it or not, we have to finish what we started - if they won't govern themselves under the timetable we set out - we should then leave as they failed to meet their end of the bargain. The Iraqi people deserve that.

No. The Iraqi people deserve to be free of foreign powers messing with their lives. Like a parent sending their kid to college, you need to let go.
