The mess in Iraq did not happen overnite.....it started in the 1920s when France and the UK partitioned the ME into fiefdoms that did not always make sense from an ethnic point of view. For decades now, Iraq has been in turmoil....tortured and raped first by the Brits and then by Saddam and the Ba'athists. It will take Iraqis decades and a lot of turmoil to recover from such abuse. Leaving now will doom that country and it's people to certain failure.<?I> Leaving now will allow the country to become what it must. For at least the next decade, there will never be a good time.....Iraq has to go through what Yugoslavia went through during the 1990s. However, it will be worse for Iraq because of the oil. We are responsible whether you like it or not, we have to finish what we started - if they won't govern themselves under the timetable we set out - we should then leave as they failed to meet their end of the bargain. The Iraqi people deserve that. No. The Iraqi people deserve to be free of foreign powers messing with their lives. Like a parent sending their kid to college, you need to let go.
