The poor disadvantaged guy can make it as top sportsman. If you come from the inner city, or from places like Jamaica, you can still make it. This because you have a very big incentive to excel in sports. Same for the boys from the Brazilian favelas. It does't matter if you are ugly as Ronaldinho. If you don't have contacts. If your neighboorhood is a slum. You can even have problem with the legal system. You just go there and do better than the other guys. Sports is the best way to do that. but because you have one billion young people competing for the laurels, only a tiny minority will succeed at the very top level.
