Some survey in China shows that there are more than 3 millions poor college students in China now who cannot afford tuition. And some of the college students do NOT even have enough money to feed themselves. Some went to the garbage can after dark to pick up some thrown away food. Some buy rice and vegetable to cook themselves because they cannot afford to eat in cafeteria.

No, when I grew up, I have never heard of things like that. College students did not need to pay any tuitions before the recent economic reform in education system.
