Somehow I feel that, having handled literally hundreds of divorces over almost 25 years, I kinda know something about the dynamics of divorce. Letting it be known, publicly, that you are divorcing someone during the apogee of a public event, is not just a coincidence. When the wife of, say, an Enron defendant divorces him during the trial, would you say that was just a coincidence? Well, maybe you would, but I wouldn't. It's possible to go for years living separate and apart without filing for divorce, so the timing matters. Personally, I would never file for divorce during the Christmas season, or while the spouse was seriously ill, or out of the country on active duty, or the defendant in a difficult trial. There are some things that are just so inhumane as to be beneath dignity. This man was making a public statement. Using divorce as a club stinks. He stinks, and his lawyer stinks.
