Bill, The Chinese have been manipulating the commodities and shipping markets for decades. It is the same thing they did to iron ore when the producers raised prices. They stockpiled a gazillion tons under the old price and then bought zilch once the new price hit. They can't do it forever, but they did it long enough to scare the heck out of steel stocks and iron ore stocks. The iron ore stocks soon caught on to the scam and recovered quickly. The Chinese used that scare to get some nice shipping deals. The cost of shipping iron ore from Brazil to China is a major part of the total expense.

It is nice to be the customer with the 1.3 billion citizens and huge industrial and infrastructure development going on. You really are the elephant in the pits.

Hi Bill,

Yes I am around. I am holding what I consider a core position in VLCCF. I believe they have a couple of ships going into dry dock for normal maintenance and the dividend may be smaller than normal this quarter. Someone said Morgan Stanley brought out a shipping IPO and there could be a demand problem for the stocks of shipping companies. I did read, and can not remember where, that there is a shortage of oil tankers moving oil from the middle east to their markets and IMO both VLCCF and NAT will help met this demand. You can read this quarters presentation at:

knightsbridgetankers.com

I am sitting here just watching to see when these folks quit selling off the shares, assuming there is not any news we do not know about, to pick up some shares.

I am currently averaging down on some corn contracts and will let VLCCF "really" settle down before I throw some money at it. <VBG>
