CommerceQuest Partners with Business Objects to Align Business Intelligence with Enterprise BPM; Partnership Enables Organizations to Streamline Business Processes, Increase Business Performance, and Improve Decision-Making
8/16/2005 8:00:12 AM

TAMPA, Fla., Aug 16, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- CommerceQuest Inc. today announced it has signed a technology alliance partnership with Business Objects, the world's leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions. As part of the agreement, CommerceQuest will extend its Universal Process Engine to connect with BusinessObjects(TM) XI Built for Operational BI, a business intelligence platform that enables embedded analytics, process optimization, and guided decision-making.

The partnership further extends CommerceQuest's Universal Process Engine - a part of TRAXION(SM) Enterprise BPM Suite - towards being the world's most flexible, standards-based process engine, by aligning with the de-facto leaders in business process analysis (BPA) and business intelligence (BI).

According to Dan Vasset, Research Director of Analytics & Data Warehousing at IDC, "Organizations should consider embedding analytics within all business processes supported by operational applications. This can be done through better and faster data capture, more advanced analytics, and work-flow-based information delivery to decision makers or other applications. This type of intelligent process automation automates repeatable, operational decisions in response to events where analytics drive the business process workflow."

Through this new partnership, joint customers will now be able to document and synchronize processes triggered as a result of actions and alerts within the Business Objects BI platform, and execute them seamlessly on CommerceQuest's Universal Process Engine. It also provides an operational audit trail that permits management and outside auditors to verify that appropriate actions were taken when necessary. Furthermore, the Universal Process Engine serves as an additional source of real time and historical data that can be incorporated back into Business Objects' advanced BI analytics, providing valuable insight into how the organization's operational processes are actually performing.

"This relationship creates real opportunities for customers to manage their business processes more efficiently, and in real time," said Mike Forster, chairman and CEO of CommerceQuest. "Combining CommerceQuest's enterprise class BPM capabilities with a world-leader like Business Objects will mean our respective customers will get a truly holistic view of their critical business processes. Management will be able to receive real time process performance reports and alerts that not only notify users of potential issues, but also provide them with enough time to correct problems before they occur."

The recently announced BusinessObjects XI Built for Operational BI provides the capabilities to monitor and analyze operational processes, enabling organizations to identify inefficient processes and provide alerts when they are not functioning properly. These alerts and reports of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) identify problems and opportunities for operational improvement, which in turn gets translated and executed as new business processes by the CommerceQuest BPM suite.

Specifically, the combination of CommerceQuest's TRAXION EnterpriseBPMS and BusinessObjects XI Built for Operational BI enables organizations to benefit from embedded analytics by providing enterprise-wide access to information they need at the time they need it. By combining business process data with alerting capabilities, enterprise performance is linked to operations in real-time, ultimately providing significantly enhanced performance management. Through this alliance, CommerceQuest and Business Objects provide joint customers with a framework for defining integrated BI and BPM best practices, and guiding users through effective, repeatable decision-making processes.

"Operational BI is becoming the next big thing in business intelligence and Business Objects has taken a leadership role in this area," said Lance Walter, vice president of product marketing at Business Objects. "We launched BusinessObjects XI Built for Operational BI as part of a strategic initiative to bring insight to all users in an organization by making BI more process-aware and real-time enabled. This partnership with CommerceQuest is indicative of our commitment to providing the most innovative solutions to our customers, and will help ensure that customers receive timely, accurate information to make mission-critical decisions and improve their daily business operations."
