"Dallas is not only not a bargain, it's grossly overvalued IMO.

And I'd rather be in Florida too if those were my only two choices."

From what you are telling me I'd agree. I hated living there the short time that I did. Florida I only hate 1/2 the time {during the summer months). People move here and are telling me the reason for the RE boom here is that Florida is California east!!
I tell them (paraphrasing a well known saying)
I know California, California is a favorite of mine, and Florida ain't no California!!! <BG>

People say that, but when red tide makes you sick, hurricanes and polluted water makes you sicker, some start questioning the wisdom of thier choice. The water at a lot of beaches here makes children have permanent health problems the rest of thier lives.

KM,

The weather in every state in the country, except CA, sucks at least half the year. The properties you mention in Dallas are priced for the upper-class.

Middle class people can get 3,500+ sq. ft. homes in an excellent school district, minutes from employment, with a backyard that rivals tropical resorts, in Plano for $350,000 or so. There are even more luxurious homes available for 100K more.

There is no comparison to the sh*tb*xes in California that people are running after. What is the point of living in a place with good weather if you have to spend all your time inside trying to earn enough for the mortgage - someone clever pointed this out. You can fly to LA for less than $200 RT on American's specials.

Regards

Jay
