Only sometimes. If the pot is "already big", you wanna do what you can to increase yer odds of winning it. Sometimes that means shrinking the field (especially since the "field" in split games is usually 5 or more players in lower limit games.

How stupid the guy with rolled up kings was depends on what came on 4th and 5th street. If the guy hits 2 low cards, then yeah, he was an idiot. If he filled up along the way and the other guy missed his draw, then no, he wasn't an idiot. I don't think he had anywhere near the advantage that he thought, but OTOH, that doesn't mean he shoulda chucked the hand from the start either.
