With Ohio, Kerry would have won in 2004.

WI is close, but tends to lean Democratic. Besides WI has only one half the electoral votes that OH has. Losing OH will give the Republicans a big problem in 2008.

For Republicans to make up for Ohio's 20 EVs, they'd have to win back NH, and then take the Democratic leaning states of OR and WI.

I could see the Rs taking NH and WI in a strong year (like the Reagan era). But, OR seems to be a little more Democratic than the others. Besides, at this point it seems very unlikely that 2008 will be a strong Republican year. If anything the tide will probably be going against them in 2008 as the polls have been telling us. In that case, the Democrats would really have to blunder with their Presidential nominee to lose in 2008.
