O.C. vigils support mom's protest Organizers of eight events in the county tonight want to call attention to anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan's campout at Bush's ranch in Texas. ocregister.com The Orange County Register Several candlelight vigils were planned for tonight in Orange County to support the mother of a soldier killed in Iraq as she continues her protest outside President George W. Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas. Cindy Sheehan of Vacaville, the mother of Army Specialist Casey Sheehan, 24, who died last year, began her campout at the ranch Aug. 6 and vows to stay there during the president's monthlong vacation until he meets with her and other military families. Bush, who said he sympathizes with Sheehan, has made no indication that he will meet with her. Sheehan and other families met with Bush two months after her son's death, before she became a vocal opponent of the war. Here are the planned vigil locations in Orange County. All begin at 7:30 tonight, and participants were asked to bring candles. • Huntington Beach: The pier, Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street • Huntington Beach: On Beach Boulevard in front of the center where Pavilions/Target are located • Santa Ana: Anton Boulevard and Bristol Street • Orange: Old Towne at the Plaza, Chapman Avenue and Glassell Street • Newport Beach: Newport Boulevard and 19th Street • Irvine: UCI Bridge over Campus Drive • Lake Forest: Village Pond Park, 23102 Ridge Route Drive • Laguna Beach: Main Beach, South Coast Highway at Ocean Avenue
