btw, how do you figure the israeli pull out from gaza? i am trying to get a sense of what folks believe is happening so as discern what may actually be happening My brother is against it (and he is a center-right-ish on nationalism stuff and a bit lefty on the economy). He went on some march earlier in the year in Gaza with his kids and all. When I was there I got stuck in the demonstrations.... It really depends who you ask. On the left they think it is great. On the right terrible, but there was never that much attachment to Gaza - it is isn't the core of the historic Jewish homeland. It is mentioned in the Bible as being in the Land of Israel but hardly ever practically was. In the center right like Sharon they decided that 9000 Israelis in the middle of 1 million or so Palestinians didn't make much sense, the nationalist outrage wouldn't be so big (we already withdrew from Sinai in 1981) and they will let the Palestinians show what they can do with this bit of land, on the coast bordering Egypt etc. It's about as big as Singapore with a quarter of the people :) Sharon thinks probably they will now all kill each other and fire missiles at Israel and so he will be justified to never withdraw from the rest of the West Bank that isn't in Palestinian hands already (and all the big cities apart from Jerusalem are but they are cut off from each other by Israeli territory in between. As for Britain. Europe isn't America or Australia or Canada or NZ... But anyway how many whites would riot in the US if some Mexican was shot? Or black immigrant shot in NY?
