I lived on oahu for 3 years, its a great place to visit, but indeed, you don't want to live there - hurricane iwa cured me - in florida when they come, I just head up the interstate - but in hawaii - no can do - have to bunker down - hehe - before the hurricane though I was pretty happy being a surfer bum there - what did you tire of after a few weeks?

you know I never understood why hawaii has interstate highways - they are supposed to go from state to state right? Maybe it was some highway pork money - hehe. Hawaii was crowded in the early 80's for the most part - I can only imagine what it is like now. Soon I won't have too, definitely going for a trip within the next year.
