GG has been in talks with Placer, but not to buy Cerro Cassalle. GG CEO Telfer, on several occassions has made it clear he is not interested in adding more copper. There have been talks with Placer about their adjoining properties at Red Lake. My impression was at least initially was that the 2 companies would maintian seperate ownership, but share some production capacity, benefitting each economically. Maybe talks went beyond just mutual cooperation. A GG purchase could, of course be some other property, but Telfer is not looking to add base metals. He wants more gold.
