I seem to recall resembling that remark. At 18 I was the smartest person on the face of the earth. Of course this meant I dwarfed my parents in intelligence. By the mid twenties they seemed to recover from the medula oblongotaectomies.

I have not gotten tot hat stage yet. My son and daughter are just 8 1/2. They appear to me to be very mature for their age. My daughter asked me not to threaten her with punishment if I am displeased with her behavior, and to explain what I she could change. I have tried to honor her request with a fairly high degree of success.

Since I was almost 40 when they were born, perhaps they will wait a while before having kids. And yes, having kids did help heal my relationship with my father. Thanks for pointing that out, because I had not noticed it.

Their mother will probably be in their faces about where they will be and with whom. So far they are very good kids. I hope that he will warn her away from the boys who tell stories in the locker room, and she will keep him away from the really bad girls through high school.

I am getting better at beng a parent. I hope it is not too late.
