briskit,

More Native Americans live here than in Canada, does that give a 'right' over their country?

Most researchers agree that North America was populated by means of a land bridge during the last ice age and migrations from Asia. Who owns land from prior centuries is certainly open to interpretation.

As for annexing Mexican states, I am not proposing that - I am saying rather than watch it happen thru migration - lets open the union and let them choose to join. At the same time lets ask Puerto Rico to become a state or be independent - none of this in between stuff.

John

briskit, 1.aboriginal; Existing from the beginning or being the earliest of its type in an area. synonym: indigenous.
2.of or relating to aborigines.

Both words mean the same thing. FYI, aborigines does not refer to the black people of Australia only, and can be of any race.

As you are talking about, most of the citizens of Mexico are of mixed blood (Spanish and Indian), full blooded Indian, with a small minority that are full blooded Spaniards. Some of those with Indian blood, believe that all of the land of the western hemisphere belongs to them, but they lost those lands in warfare and conceded ownership at the time of the defeat. Shortly after the time when Cortez defeated the Aztecs, the Spanish padres had listed 1500 distinct tribes in the area of modern day Mexico. The Aztecs were not the only ones, but the most powerful. I wonder how they plan to divvy the land up if their wishes come true.

I sympathize with the Indian nations, but what can be done about it now? If the land was ceded back to them, where would all of the anglos go? Does anybody here want to return to Europe for life? Not I. !!!

Mexican civilization was destroyed in the 16th century by smallpox, by the worst drought in hundreds of years, and by a devastating hemorraghic fever, known as cocoliztli.

From 1520 to 1620, the Mexican population dropped from 21 million to 1 million.
cdc.gov

The collapse extended to New Mexico and Arizona. Perhaps 90% of the population lost to diseases.

Americans settled almost empty land. If it had been inhabited, the story, no doubt, would have been different.

Population did not rebound until 20th century. And now we see population pressures.
