The issue at hand is whether Truman's desire to make America an intimidating superpower led to the dropping of the second bomb. I realize how everyone must have felt by that time during the war. That reality can coexist with the question of Truman's motivations.

There is every kind of writer, crackpot, needy attention seeker and riff raff writing book reviews at Amazon. Since it is impossible to know the background or motivation of anyone, I find it simpler to rely on the editorial reviews most of the time. If you do ever pick up this book and read it, please let me know what you thought, and then I will read the Weintraub book, since a deal is a deal!
