No offense, but I'd rather hear neolib articulate his own reasons for why this will not happen.

I am all eager to hear what you have to say on the topic as well.

I have not heard any reasons from either of you beyond what boils down to "this is how it has been and US is a stable country". Neither of which I find particularly convincing. For example how does US stability translate into heat and food on my table in China?

As to the historical factor. Again, today is a very different world than WW2. And I don't recall people calling into question the validity of USD while it was backed by Gold or so long as US was a net exporter. These are big differences.
