Al, I hear this all the time. What is the point you are making here? That it's ok to send a volunteer army to a war of questionable ethics?

That's it's not OK to force others into harm's way just to get them to think your way. If I told you that SUVs are evil and should be banned, should I then force you or your children in front of a moving SUV just to prove that they can't stop on a dime?

You write posts in support of bush, so I will venture that you voted for him. Do you want to rethink your statement?

It's very easy to criticize Bush, especially if you don't have an alternative solution. "Anything is better than Bush" is hardly an alternative, especially if the opposition is worse. Bush is far from ideal, but he's also far from the extreme negative portrayals that you and JF and Ted prefer to highlight.

Thanks JF. Now I'll tell you what I "didn't do." I didn't force people who never wanted to become soldiers to enlist.

The more I learn about teenagers, the age when most people sign up for the military, the more I realize they have little idea what they are getting into. For years they have been fed this concept of America, the great without understanding that at times America is not so great. Hell, I can't still haven't fully resolved what I was taught with the reality. And then they get shipped off to a strange country where even a seasoned person would get freaked out and are expected to survive. No wonder so many are coming back with their transistors fried, trying to come to grips with the fact that America, the great sent them into such a God awful mess.

I never supported deficit spending, nor do I support the whole "have your cake and eat it too" mentality.

You don't understand.....Ten likes the tax cuts but doesn't like the deficit spending. Besides, that really has nothing to do with anything. The real problem is the Dems. They put up a a candidate who was way, way inferior to Bush. Otherwise, he would have voted for him. Same problem with Harris. The Dems would have won had Kerry been a better man. No matter what, its always the liberals fault.
