Any help on hard drive blinking light?

I've got two Dell Dimension 8200 machines here, identical in every important aspect. But, the hard drive on one blinks, blinks, blinks, etc. No blinks on the other machine.

These blinks remind me of what CD-ROM drives used to do when watching for automatic insertion alerts. I've gone through everything possible to find if any thing is polling a drive. No luck.

No fastfind or indexing active. No evidence of anything automatically watching or polling for any thing. Even checked the list of processes running on the two machines and found no difference.

The C: drives in both machines are identical, one is a clone of the other, and drives have been switched between the two machine with no solution.

The blink, blink is a mystery. I am running W2K and find no Administrator settings different between the two machines.

Wierd. Any suggestions? What am I missing?

I did all these and visited Dell community (blog) posting these questions with a few other ... Problem with the docking station: do not recognize the NIC card and the external monitor
Nic card can be replaced for $30.00 BUT the external monitor not working at all. otherwise keyboard, printer and mouse connected to docking station are working !!!
