On the ME dept problem, do you you remember Tekboy talking about Michael Doran? He is the only moderate ME Prof Tek knew of. He is at Princeton. He is brilliant, and is having a tenure fight because he is not pro-Palestinian. Tek mentioned that he was going to have problems. You go nowhere in ME academia unless you agree with Said. Much, much too sweeping a set of generalizations, Bill. Last time I looked, over a year ago, the Doran case was fairly complicated, only one part of which might, with a stretch, be attributed to his views. I certainly agree on the smarts he displays in his writings. I like them, as you will recall. As for the comment about Said, it's more than a stretch.
