You obviously have a history with that person which colors any discussion we may have about it.

As to your religious views. People of equally sound reason employ their powers of reason to (presumably) arrive at a rational religious conviction. The fact that these convictions and beliefs are myriad, leads an outsider to naturally claim that if any particular religious belief is rationally based, then it ought to be possible for the holder of that belief to demonstrate the logical flaw in all conflicting religious beliefs when they claim reason as their justification.

By analogy: I believe that George Bush lives on earth. I can demonstrate the rational flaws of people who claim he lives on the moon, venus, mars, or the sun. Of course most people do NOT claim their religious beliefs are rationally based because they would then be in the uncomfortable (but logically inescapable) position of demonstrating where the reasoning toward other disparate beliefs goes astray.

I have never met anyone who could do that, so I am firmly of the belief that no religion is rationally based. If any particular religious persuasion is more logically compelling than any other, then that fact should be logically demonstrable. That is all I am saying. Thus, billions of people around the world are holding religious beliefs on an irrational basis. Nothing wrong with that but it ought to be acknowledged, I think.

You can respond on a different thread if you like as we are probably straying off topic.
