Ben and Jerry's can't hold a candle. Is that because they focus on politics instead of ice cream? Oh, no, they make very good ice cream. I'm a serious fan of their ice cream. You can find a quart or two in our freezer almost any time. And the New York Fudge is something else. But my memories of Blue Bell were of waiting through a long meal, eating stuff I wanted to have nothing to do with (spinach, squash, greens, okra) just to get to the Blue Bell. Perhaps the more objectionable the stuff, the longer the time, the better the ice cream tasted. Memories.
