When Juan Cole erroneously teaches that 9/11 was a response to Jenin (despite the inconvenient fact that Jenin happened after 9/11), how is keeping an eye on that an "attack on academic freedom"? Seems more like a defense of reality, a defense of actual knowledge and fact. Do you mean that Cole should have the "academic freedom" to just make up stuff? If he starts preaching that Pearl Harbor was a response to Hiroshima, should we not have any information that perhaps our classrooms have become a pulpit for analytically deficient "instructors", or is it better to just keep it a secret?

I simply do not see how recruiting students to put the names of faculty members on internet lists is an attack on academic freedom. I also believe you use of the term recruiting is quite a stretch. But that does no matter.

If all information is truthful, what is the attack. Free publicity of what one proffers is positive and not an attack.

I am loggerheads as to whether you are so much smarter than me and why I cannot see any of your logic.

No chapter, no verse and no logic.

That's the top line for me.

I consider his recruiting students to put the names of faculty members on internet lists an attack on academic freedom. I consider that a danger to them and their families.

Are all tenured professors in NJ whiny wimps?

It absolutely shocks me to know that you live in fear of your students.

On the other hand, I find it comforting to know that left wing professors know they are screwing over their students so badly they need to fear repercussions.

HHMmmmmm-- great idea. Their names and opinions should be made public in every media. If they fear what they say there must be a deserved reason. Only 2 things motivate -- money and fear. Maybe they will be motivated to become honest instead of looking for publicity and tainting minds. We all know they are all overpaid anyway.
