re:"So what side of your conscience says Bush is a good president?"

The economy has a 5% unemployment rate despite being within 3 years of the biggest market crash in a lifetime. Because of Fed actions and the 2001 Tax cut, the recession of 2001 (in America) was more shallow than the recession that resulted from the Japanese market crash. Conventional wisdom was that a tax cut would not keep consumer spending up, the savings would instead be used by consumers to reduce debt - this turned out to be false. There have been about 13 recessions/depressions since 1929 only two have had peak unemployment rates lower than under Bush (1953-4, 1969-70) - and neither were triggered by a major financial market crash.

The Violent crime and property crime rates in the United States is lowest levels in over 30 years. Conventional wisdom claimed that due to the recession (and increased poverty), along with the baby boomlet, that violent crime would increase - this turned out to be false.

The SAT test scores of American High School Students have reversed direction, and are now at their higest levels since the late 60's despite greater participation of minorities and the poor.

Despite being involved in an international war al Qaeda (and a continuation of the war against Iraq), including a historic attack upon American civilians and historic loss of life, the restrictions on Civil rights under Bush have been less than: restrictions seen during the Cold War, restrictions on civil rights FDR imposed during World War 2, the restictions on civil rights Wilson imposed during World War One, or the restrictions on civil rights Lincoln imposed during the Civil War.

Do you really think if the U.S. leaves Iraq that Zarqawi (or bin Laden) would stop attacking the United States or Americans - before you answer, Zaqawi tried to blow up a Radisson (frequently used by Americans) Hotel in 1999 and in 2002 (before the invasion of Iraq) Zarqawi had an American Diplomat, (USAID dipomat)Laurence Foley killed?

You came onto my thread ... and mostly just started fights. You like that don't you?

I will try to give homage to your point of view as I recollect and quote the facts of my outrageous combativeness on your thread.

Me signing on to your thread on Aug 8. And being hateful to everyone:

"There is a great need for liberal thinkers who employ sound reasoning to engage in the problems of our day. There is only so far we can go by conserving the status quo until we become oppressive.

the responses from your pals

redfish"

"oh come on....
friggen pat the patsy roberts has LIED AND LIED about continuing the hearings about 911 and the intelligence failures...

Mr Gem being even more of a bastage:

"The seed of conflict leading to change and renewal is not a hammer ... it is inquiry. At the root of thriving human endeavor is the merit of firm principle. Yet it is liberal innovation that is the catalyst for social evolution."

Redfish:

"The way to defeat them is to spit in their faces over and over again until the cretins who support them finally come to understand that the party is over for them. "

Gem again:

"I hope for something better and base that hope on noble human endeavor; one founded on sound reason, principle, and innovation."

Redfish offering his words of wisedom:

"Imo it is a noble human endeavor to soundly, with reason, principle and innovation, put your foot up a neocon's ass."

Me shakin' my head:

"lol... where's the love pal.:"

Third Eye looking in on the discussion:

"You are nothing but pious platitude. "Let us sit down and reason together." That's all you've got left."

Me going off the deep end:

"That is all I have ever had. I am curious as to why you seem to consider that something distasteful."

Third Eye

"You seem to be more interested in the form of discourse than the content. Could that be because when trying to defend this president, there's no there there?"

My hateful response:

"I have now posted thousands of times on SI. To my recollection, I have not once defended this president. I have criticised him and I have probably recognised some good qualities but I don't recall defending him.

There is a huge difference between asking you to validate your claims against him or the administration vs defending him. Black and white thinkers do not tend to get that. I am not saying you are a black and white thinker since I don't know what you think about. I chastise my own children when they accuse another child of wrong doing without cause or substance. The accused may well be an awful person for all I know, my concern is that my children protect their honor."

Me:
"Souix has seen fit to allow me posting privileges as an exception. He and I have an honor bound pact to see it through as long as my postings remain reasoned."

The natives getting restless:

Redfish: "Well I hope he enjoys reading your crap because I sure don't."

Me BBBBBBANNED

You and another guy suspended for bashing me after you banned me.

Was that about how it went?
