I dunno, I didn't know we had one. Whatever happened to that "low Canadian crime rate" I used to hear about? There is a delusion amongst the members of Canada's Perpetual Ruling Party that if they persecute duck hunters and other country folk, this will magically lower the rate of gun crime in Toronto and Montreal.... The usual knee jerk anti-Americanism then rears its head when they cast about for someone to blame for the failure of this post-modern (by definition stupid) policy. The real reason for an increase in murders, I believe, is the perpetual emphasis placed by these same members of the PRP on the desireability of multicultural social policy whereby every local instance of foreign culture is pandered to for votes. Thus, when some ethnic community is running into difficulty with its criminal element police are discouraged from proactively engaging with these communities on the basis that such activity will be seen as racist, culturally insensitive, etc, and will be an inexhaustible seam of gold for the Country's Jesse Jackson clones to mine. frank@cynicsrus.ca
