Can't we have a 'no confidence' vote and call a new election?

Darn ...

It isn't a matter of excuses, it's just an observation about the way things are.

Despite the glaring problems with this administration, the real reason they're in power probably has more to do with the fact that Corporate America is quite happy with them and the profits they have been bringing in. Even the war in Iraq is reportedly the most profitable war in history, by a large margin according to a PBS special from not too long ago.

I was surprised that the Economist editorial I posted drew no comments.

..."Mr Bush is proving far more successful at rewarding his corporate backers"....

The sad fact is that what will finally drive this administration out of office is when the American public votes with their pocketbook. It won't be our dead in Iraq, our diplomacy in shambles, the world on our backs, the permenant War on Terror and Patriot Act but the simple fact that gas pump prices will put the squeeze on even the fools in the Red States, and that will be that.

Further on down the line, when the dollar suffers a currency crisis (a matter of when, not if) and all these cheap imported high tech toys manufactured offshore cost 4 times as much in dollars, the Red State suckers will have even more reason to regret voting for Shrub and his cronies, but then it'll be too late and they can all just pray at their f***ng dinner tables.
