It cannot be welcome to the U.S. State Department, who, judging from Dr. Condoleezza Rice’s most recent “roadmap” bleatings, are either not in the loop, or pretending not to be.

The lower orders at State may still be playing the Pal game, but I am convinced that Rice sees the real picture, and is playing the "pretend" game. There are many of us who would prefer to prick the Arab dream castles and collapse them, but the admin wants to go along with them.

It would take another major attack on us to change this.

I also find the "Frum theory" appealing. The BS about Israeli imperialism and intransingence is now over, and the world - including Europeans and the Arabs - must face the reality of an evolving extremist "Hamastan" - right in their backyard.

Another country devoted to training international Jihadis is the very last thing the world needs. But making sure that this doesn't happen would no longer be the responsibility of the Israelis. And it won't be easy to blame them for having done exactly what the West and the Arabs (as they claimed) wanted them to do all along.

Btw, as far back I as can remember, Arafat was continuously yapping about his vision of a land where Jews and Palestinians would peacefully live together. So, how come everyone accepted as a "natural fact of life" the forced evacuation of the settlers? The fact that the Palestinian state must be "cleansed" of all Jews - isn't that supposed to offend modern sensibilities? Personally, I think those people are nuts for wanting to live under a Palestinian jurisdiction - and "protection" - but... why couldn't the decision be left up to them?
