It takes courage for Hagel to speak out. I'm glad he did.
I think we need a coalition of Republicans against the war in Iraq, Democrats, Independents, Veterans, and Libertarians to push for withdrawal starting now - in the next 6 months at least. That means no bases in Iraq after the withdrawal either.

A leading Republican senator and prospective presidential candidate said Sunday that the war in Iraq has destabilized the Middle East and is looking more like the Vietnam conflict from a generation ago.

With Saddam now gone, Iraq will soon become another Yugoslavia when the US leaves. And economic pressures coupled with people's disillusion with what what Bush has been telling them will force the US to act the way it did in Vietnam.

Just a matter of time.
