I absolutely agree on comparative advantage. That's why I don't try to pick stocks on fundamentals and farm that mostly to pros as mutual funds and closed end funds and focus on time series analysis and macro.

For example, this project I'm working on now. I just have all the data together and plot emissions and energy use in the three NAFTA countries, per capita and per dollar of GDP and see what patterns there. This is so basic, And NOBODY has done that before. Or not published it anyway. A lot can be learned by just looking at something that simple. Next I put a battery of the most sophisticated time series tools onto it to see which patterns are significant etc. But they are all simple things really that run nice and quick on my Mac. So I have a comparative advantage in finding simple things computationally in economics and time series that haven't been done.

So if pros handle your money then why did you buy DELL shares? And you tell me none of those guys can beat the market anyway? Huh?

Anyway I won two bets in a row on GOOG (taking out last weeks low vs. an ATH first). I'd be happy to take on more such bets :)
