As I said there's plenty of blame to go around for our sorry state of affairs. The biggest problem is simple human frailties like greed and immorality.

WorldCom, Enron, Global Crossing, etc.... Yeah, perhaps Clinton's SEC could have done a much better job. But the Republicans controlled Congress during this period and showed no interest in boosting the SECs funding or powers to investigate their corporate buddies. In fact, I remember some efforts by Republicans in this era to try to limit state securities regulators, thus lessoning scrutiny of corporate America.

And don't forget, China now has their own astronauts thanks to algore and willie...

I have no idea what on earth you are talking about. The Russians have had astronauts for decades, perhaps they helped the Chinese. Besides, the Chinese would have eventually figured it out on their own. Is Bush not selling technology to China that can be used to guide missles to the U.S.?
