Moominoid Re: "shorts" I'm thinking that next year could get really ugly with some big gains to be had on the short side. But I also think that there may be at least one maybe pretty considerable rally first. If so it would almost have to begin with the next quarter earnings, maybe early October. If oil fell a good bit by then (which it may not) AND if there are some good earnings a big year end rally could ensue. If so be sure to clear out the short term positions by the end of December (remember this past January 3rd big and unexpected sell off?)

I think the time is coming where shorts will just run on and on, but we are not there yet. But the next month and a half could be good for shorts. Right now shorts "feel" good. I set auto-stops when I enter the short and that way I don't have to watch them. And the stops are not getting taken out. In many sectors the market is really weak right now. Don't tell Shades but I'm looking at DELL. <G>

One thing I noticed today was the really big reversal of the QQQQ. Looks like it may be headed for 38.00
