Where am I incorrect?

You conveniently dropped all references to GDP, which means that the meaning of the post just flew by you.

Either that, or you must think that the most desirable state is when a country uses the least energy per capita, but I pointed out the downside of it. The countries with the lowest energy consumption per person also have the lowest GDP per person.

Its you that made that correlation. It does not automatically follow that a country has to have major fuel consumption because its per capita GDP is strong. The EU has lower energy consumption figures because over 20 years ago they were determined to break their dependency on foreign oil and successfully implemented all kinds of energy conservation measures. Its because this country was lax in that area and chose to take the easy way out that we now are paying for our dependency in all kinds of ways including a senseless war in Iraq. Its so ridiculous....your anti European bias will not allow you to compliment them even when they do something right.

As for this whole per capita GDP argument, it looks good on paper but in reality, the percentage of the GDP attributable to each American varies greatly depending on their financial situation. The bulk of the GDP benefits accrue to the rich in this country. Furthermore, those benefits are not as equitably distributed as they are in Europe. Once again, you favor the rich over your own class.
