I know Tony has been successful with throwing a convention or two in the past (successful in the sense people showed up; not sure about financially or how well-run and informative it was). Does anyone think a so-called message board crowd centric convention would attract a lot of folks? For example, what if both hedge fund managers and the anti-naked shorting gurus squared off in a panel discussion. We could have a Q&A with SEC and DTC reps as well. There could be seminars on everything from how to read a stock chart to advanced arbitrage. Various high-profile people would be invited to give seminars. People would get to meet all their long-time-never-seen net friends and learn just disfunctional everyone who frequents message boards truly is (g).

So, seriously, if someone organized such an event, would anyone really go? Would it be a gamble to organize one, or closer to a sure-thing? What might be a price point (for the convention only, not including airfare and hotel fees)?
