We must intervene when it starts going against our interests or against basic humanity. I take it that your argument, which you seem strangely reluctant to make plain, is that Islam is "against our interests" or "against basic humanity." Well, that may be, but I doubt that we will intervene over this. Surely U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad reported back to the White House, and surely if we had intended to intervene we would not have let things get as far as they have. Like it or not, this appears to be a done deal.
