Exactly my point. I mean, why don't we spend more time trying to strengthen the democratic processes in Venezuela and countries like them instead of sponsoring coup attempts? It's one thing to oust a bad dictator, but it's quite another to topple a TRULY elected leader.

At this point in time it doesn't matter if Chavez is a raving lunatic or the most selfless member of his generation. He is a leader of an oil rich country with a population that doesn't like us and we have given them plenty of reasons to have that attitude.

Adding to the mix, a leftist was elected to the presidency two years ago in Brazil......the former mayor of Sao Paulo. He and Chavez have linked up........which means two of the most powerful S. American countries are linked together. And they have joined in a trading pact with China and other nations to form a powerful economic bloc. China's relations with S. American countries have grown dramatically over the past 5 years as ours have deteriorated. And the killing of a Brazilian in London has not helped matters.
