I already have a hosts file, that is why I'm getting the connection refused. (if it were a direct URL to a non adfarm address I could get there but it's a nasty long redirect and since I've blocked adfarm I can't get past the redirect).

Also note it was adfarm.mediaplex.com not adfarm.snv.mediaplex.com

127.0.0.1 is your own PC.

A home machine shouldn't have anything in a hosts file except 127.0.0.1 as localhost. If you've got stuff in there, it's probably residue from attempted (or successful) hacker attacks.
