It's every bit as worrisome when the majority of Muslims don't do anything about the virulent minority in their midst. I think we're all seeing that religious leaders are increasingly using their platforms to increase tension, violence, and war in the world instead of trying to bridge divides and bring peace. I think the previous Pope did a good job of that and I think so far the current Pope is trying to do the same. I agree not all religious leaders......certainly not the Pope. And today there were religious leaders of other Christian denominations in the US that condemned Robertson and his comments. They also pointed out that Robertson's comments reinforced the notion that the affairs of church and state need to be kept separate. Tonite, when I was at the gym, I was watching the Larry King show......he's on CNN. He had a panel that was discussing ID and the theory of evolution. There was several people.....one was a relatively young guy who was a Dr. of something. I figured a couple of the older people were for ID and the younger guy was for evolution. This will sound funny but in these kinds of discussions, you want to like the people who are the proponents for your position.......unfortunately, this guy made me very uncomfortable.....his eyes were strangely vacant. In fact, his look was creeping me out. Oddly enough, after about 15 minutes of watching the show, it turns out the youngish guy was for ID. Its makes you wonder if there are things in our physicality that determine whether we will be liberal or conservative, and when we see someone who espouses our beliefs, we connect automatically with them because of those common features in our respective physicalities just as men and women are attracted to each other by the scent of certain pheromones. I know that sounds funny...its just a thought in an evening that's getting late.
