I know you are trying to be helpful but you are mistaken. Your instructions are not valid and don't resolve the issue.

1. I have a good hosts file, unless you want to badmouth mvps.org

2. "that stuff" or something similar is already in my hosts file

Mine has 2 more entries than yours. Does that make my host file better than yours. Do you feel the need to compare? Notice that the address I mentioned is already in my hosts file. How many more ways can I say that I already have a hosts file?

3. Are you talking about the same link I am? redirect.pangora.com*%3F!mpro%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Flandingstrip.dell.com%2Flandingstripemea%2Fls.asp%3FCID%3D5675%26LID%3D137597%26DGC%3DBA%26DGStor%3DDHS%26DGSite%3D239995565590*%26DURL%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fconfigure2.euro.dell.com%252Fdellstore%252Fconfig.aspx%253Fc%253Dde%2526cs%253Ddedhs1%2526kc%253D305%2526l%253Dde%2526oc%253DN08XP5a%2526s%253Ddhs%2526sbc%253Drf_spider&fr=AP09K95ZXsFI-b487RKd1_EEbJtu-vEt6d8aHQyAg6I6luZO2FkDKHwFkU0qFX38PgAAAAAAAAAA?serviceType=portal&serviceName=froogle&fid=204&date=20050802&mid=4855&oid=4855deN08XP5adede&url=http%3A%2F%2Fadfarm.mediaplex.com%2Fad%2Fck%2F2399-9556-5590-12%3F%21mpro%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Flandingstrip.dell.com%2Flandingstripemea%2Fls.asp%3FCID%3D5675%26LID%3D137597%26DGC%3DBA%26DGStor%3DDHS%26DGSite%3D23999556559012%26DURL%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fconfigure2.euro.dell.com%252Fdellstore%252Fconfig.aspx%253Fc%253Dde%2526cs%253Ddedhs1%2526kc%253D305%2526l%253Dde%2526oc%253DN08XP5a%2526s%253Ddhs%2526sbc%253Drf_spider&fr=AP09K95ZXsFI-b487RKd1_EEbJtu-vEt6d8aHQyAg6I6luZO2FkDKHwFkU0qFX38PgAAAAAAAAAA&mrc=4855&rcd=4855deN08XP5adede&uniqueUserID=a6e05df3e912698b7d6c7e8d295d76&cookieCampID=.2&cookieLinkID=.2&cookieExternalReferrerHost=volopxo&ref=&hop=1&shortUserAgentID=8c32b66d

Dunno where that link goes but the machine I'm on right now can't get there. I could try it on a machine with no hosts entries but I don't generally like to visit sites that don't play nice.

Maybe if I feel like it and the URL is persistant enough I'll try it on a VMWare workstation 5 image I can mess around with in a month or so, or maybe I'll try it on a test PC that I don't care about but it seems like more work than its worth for what I thought was just a listing of a PC for sale somewhere...

If you have a truly useful interpretation of these events I'll consider any helpful input but your previous two messages are making assumptions that don't apply.
