It seem that, that is the reason the Russians invaided Afganistan in the first place, the US didn't want them to have it, they employed Bin Laden to stop the Russians, the US screwed him, now bin Laden is screwing them back. And screwed the US will be. not only by Binny, but all the rest of the world. They have had enough. The US's weak spot is oil and the price thereof.

Energy Alliance and US Isolation
Jim Willie
Willie writes a sobering article on the Pan-Asian energy alliance and how the US is being quietly maneuvered from domination to isolation. The association between China, Iran and Russia is being kept quiet, but its reality will be so powerful as to change the geopolitical balance of power. This coalition amounts to an anti-US alliance, motivated by frustration over years of dominance with little evidence of consensus building. US officials have taken the position that the world's lone superpower does not need approval by other nations. The world's response is to gradually isolate the US and to operate on vital, strategically important matters independently, without cooperation or consultation. The most dangerous development is the nuclear card being dealt to Iran by Russia and China. The Pan-Asian alliance is gradually taking shape, in substance if not in name. Watch them sneak up on a superpower whose population is fat, slow, poorly read, indulgent, sleepy, distracted and increasingly comprised, says Willie. The sense of entitlement is pervasive and disturbing.
