That is entirely correct actually. The Republicans have catered to the religious values of tens of millions of Americans. Strangely enough, people's cities and towns can literally fall apart, their jobs can be shipped overseas, money can be wasted on war and destruction, but as long as the President and party in power caters to their emotial needs to feel moral and religously good, then Americans will vote for them.

I'm just thinking that the Republicans old religion con game is running out of steam. Bush is polling at 37% in Missourri and 38% in Ohio. Those aren't the kind of numbers you put on the board to win elections. Bush is still above 50% in other conservative bible thumping states, but he's hurting badly in some regions of America where he previously has done well, like the Mid West.
