I keep hoping that people will read, will think, will even use higher reasoning powers and become more sensitive to the agony of other groups, and use their patriotic spirit to actually improve America. I am an eternal optimist about such things. I can tell you that if Bill Clinton had been running this war, the conservatives would have managed to impeach and convict him by now for gross ineptitude of every sort. I cannot understand why people cannot think critically and analyze information and change their minds once in awhile when all the evidence points to a conclusion that they did not originally hold. I don't think gross partisanship is a very creative way of governing, really.
