You are greatly mistaken! The Reagan Administration had a morbid fear of socialism (notably that of Cuba) flourishing in its backyard and it earnestly adopted covert nefarious actions against socialist countries. (Covert is the operative word here and hence your apparent ignorance!) To be sure, it was a big bully! I am inclined to believe that the "democracies" in South America you referred to were "created" by artifice, subtle force and bribery under the auspices of the US. They are not natural democracies. Rather, they are metastable democracies and all that that implies! Time will tell. There is often more to what just meet the eye! You are evidently one of those who swallow everything --- hook, line and sinker --- that your government and the government-controlled media throw out for public consumption. It seems to me you are being naive and you expect others to be just as naive as yourself. The US government seems to have abandoned most of the lofty ideals of the Founding Fathers. For a long time it has been more of an emasculator and predator! Just study the works of Noam Chomsky, especially his "Hegemony or Survival: America's Quest for Global Dominance" (ISBN 0-8050-7688-3, pub. Henry Holt & Co, LLC) which has been acclaimed as an eye-opener, and you will begin to understand, big-time! So you didn't know why I was banned from that thread? Oh, really? It was so patently obvious: I wrote that Bush is a brazen liar and that he is delusional. Clearly, that didn't sit well with the moderator who expects every poster to be cheering for Dumbya who, incidentally, happens to be in deep-shit trouble of late. To be sure, what I wrote is a truth that hurts like gangbusters! But mind you, though truth, like surgery, often hurts, it also heals! Apparently the moderator was too myopic or ignorant to appreciate this fact.
