Absolutely. I know people all over the US in the same boat, from Michigan, to Texas, to California. People with bachelor degrees in science, engineering, computer science, and 10-15 years or more of corp. experience.

We are being sold the view that "our kids are not being educated!" - a bunch of BS - that has nothing to do with global trends toward massive corporate downsizing, and outsourcing. It is very underreported, IMHO.

I've seen entire departments eliminated, or half of 20 people maybe losing their jobs. Highly skilled people.

Why should college students study these subjects when we do not care if the jobs leave the US?

Most of the people saying things like that don't have any real experience in IT, the sciences, or know what the h*ll they are talking about.

I will never forget seeing a line of people in suits - over 3,000 at the Embassy Suites in metro Detroit - Troy actually around 2001. So many that they circled the building - and most couldn't get in. They stood for 3 hours trying to get an interview for around 500 possible jobs in various companies - all victims of corporate downsizings.

They know what's been happening - it's not theoretical to them.

thanks for your post...
