Norman Lear: What Make This Situation Different?
Norman Lear
Thu Aug 25,

So let’s imagine a young Christian man, say twenty-six years of age, living in South America where the 700 Club on cable television has been an important part of his lifetime religious diet.

The day before yesterday he hears his leading man of God, the Reverend Pat Robertson, suggest that the President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, be assassinated. Why wouldn't the young man hear in this situation a call
or enticement to violence? How different is this from the proverbial and outlawed false cry of “Fire!” in a crowded theater?
