That's the US version of the Maginot line. Probably just as efficient too :)

Comrage Jaeger, It's up to the State and to law enforcement agencies ONLY to deal with illegal immigration --what kind of allegedly civilized country is the US?!

Since the federal government isn't enforcing the border, the locals along the border have decided to form their own enforcement patrol. They don't even shoot at illegal border crossers; rather, they call the Border Patrol if they see one. Some carry firearms, but that's strictly for self-defense, especially when there are armed drug-runners who also cross the border.

This is the whole essense of the 2nd amendment:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

Of course, I'm not surprised that you'd prefer the citizens to be subject to the law-enforcement whims of the government.

Re: Schwarzenegger supports the construction of a fence along California's border with Mexico and recently praised the Minuteman Project, which has conducted civilian patrols of the border.

It's quite outrageous to see a governor publicly endorsing that insane Minuteman Project... Gun-toting rednecks criss-crossing the desert, chasing after hapless wetbacks...

Insane project? That's not what it is. They are guys who watch the border and when they see illegals, they report them to the INS. They don't go chasing them......in fact, they have been very circumspect in their supervision of the border. What is so insane about that?

From a European viewpoint, that's a grave, criminal breach of the law! It's up to the State and to law enforcement agencies ONLY to deal with illegal immigration --what kind of allegedly civilized country is the US?! Condoning such trigger-happy vigilantism is like allowing the poor to PRINT THEIR OWN MONEY!!

That's the problem.....the feds are not enforcing the laws. American borders are hugely porous. Illegals do not have to go by ship or plane or train to get to their final destination like for most of Europe.....they simply walk across the border.

There're probably MILLIONS of disgruntled Americans who just can't make both ends meet --how about allowing them to print a few rolls of $100 notes on their laser printers? Can't hurt...

Sorry. There is no analogy there.
